conditions of entry

These are the general conditions of entry. Details are subject to change and may be updated without notice.

  • The Marrickville Women’s Salon is open to female artists who are either Marrickville residents, or involved in the arts in the inner west of Sydney.
  • One application per person.
  • An artist statement and bio needs to accompany the application.
  • Entry to the Marrickville Women’s Salon 2010 costs $35.00 (for the year 2010).
  • All applications to exhibit must be submitted by 5pm on Sunday 20 June 2010. Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Electronic applications submitted without a signature are considered to have entered into the agreement as if signed manually.
  • All applicants will be notified by email of the success or otherwise of their application from 27 June 2010.
  • Decisions made by the curator and/or selection panel are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Proposed artwork must be a single (not multiple) original piece measuring no larger than 50cm x 70cm,or for sculptures, 50cm x 50cm x 30cm, weighing no more than 15kg.
  • The gallery takes 20% commission on sales generated through the exhibition, and is responsible for the coordination of artwork sales and the handling of money from sales.
  • Artworks already sold or held in private collections will not be included in the exhibition.
  • Artworks accepted into the exhibition must be delivered between the hours of 1pm - 5pm on Saturday 14 August 2010 along with payment of entry fee, and supplied ready to hang or install, and affixed with a label, according to the terms as specified in the application process. All delivery and transportation costs are borne by the artist (e.g. couriers).
  • Artworks deemed too fragile or dangerous to the public will not be included in the exhibition.
  • Applicants accept full responsibility (and associated expenses) for packing, transport and insurance of the artwork.
  • The curator and gallery will exercise reasonable care, but will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to artworks.
  • Selected artworks will be hung by the curator and gallery staff at their discretion. Any special installation instructions or requirements must be attached to the artwork, and disclosed in the application form.
  • Entrants hereby consent to their work being reproduced by print and electronic media in the advertising and promotion of the exhibition and for archival purposes.
  • Exhibiting artists may be emailed invitations to this event for their personal distribution.
  • At the conclusion of the exhibition, artwork must be collected from the gallery between the hours of 4pm - 6pm
    on the closing date of the exhibition.
